Dr. Gavriel Salvendy, member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE), joins the Department of Industrial Engineering beginning this Fall. He was the first elected member from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society “for fundamental contributions to and professional leadership in human, physical and cognitive aspects of engineering systems.”

Dr. Salvendy is also a recipient of the John Fritz Medal (2007), engineering profession’s highest award, for his fundamental international and seminal leadership and technical contributions to human engineering and industrial engineering education, theory and practice. He is the founding chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Tsingua University, Beijing, China and received the Friendship Award, People’s Republic of China, the highest honor the Chinese government confers on foreign experts.
