Primary research interest involves human-in-the-loop control and decision systems. Dr. Vela has worked on projects involving modeling, simulation, optimization and analysis of air transportation systems. Efforts include coupled pilot-control-aircraft models; next-generation collision avoidance systems; safety analysis of NextGen concepts; and agent-based simulations of air transportation systems.
